JD Lasica released his high-tech, sci-fi thriller, Biohack. Valerie Ramirez, a special ed teacher haunted by her toddler’s drowning accident, is admitted into a biotech company’s exclusive program. Shannon Brown published a picture book, Pete’s Potato Problem. When a new restaurant takes away Pete’s business, he decides to enter the annual Pingleton Potato Festival so people will fall in love with his food again. It’s a good plan until someone buys the entire supply of Pete’s secret ingredient.
Three members have been published in the City of Oakland’s 2018 Anthology, Writing on the Edge. Eloise Hamann’s poem, “Where is Leonard Cohen?” is in the collection, as well as “Peace Takes Time,” an essay contributed by Art Tenbrink. Julaina Kleist-Corwin wrote the Foreward to the anthology, and the book includes her essay “Chosen Changes.”
Ann Parker released her historical mystery novel, A Dying Note. In this sixth book of the Silver Rush series, Inez Stannert, now settled in San Francisco in 1881, must solve the murder of a young musician.
Three of Dr. Jac Fitzenz’s stories have been published in The Beckoning, the 2018 anthology of the North State Writers Club. They are “Going Home,” “Missing,” and “Very Cold Night.”
Daniel Hobbs, writing as Ben Leiter, has released his political-religious thriller, Betrayal of Father Garza. A disillusioned Roman Catholic priest who ministers in an inner-city parish uncovered sinister secrets during his Vatican studies decades ago. His thesis could now be made public, potentially triggering The Second Reformation.
