Author and Editor Audrey Kalman, “Seeking the Muse: Connecting with Your Creative Self in an Age of Distraction,” October 20, 2018

Novelist, short story writer, and editor Audrey Kalman will discuss a simple writing practice that helps keep the muse close and the words flowing. In her talk, “Seeking the Muse: Connecting with Your Creative Self in an Age of Distraction.” Kalman will address questions such as: Do you find it easy to sit down and begin writing? Are you always inspired? Do the words flow easily? Can you tune out the siren call of social media and email? If you answered no to any or all of these questions, you’re not alone. Most writers find it difficult to get—and stay—inspired.

Kalman will reflect on what has sustained her as a writer and what continues to drive her. And she’ll share short readings from her most recent book with peeks into the process behind the passages. Come prepared to write and reflect!

Join us on Saturday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Four Points by Sheraton, 5115 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton, California, to hear Kalman’s presentation. Check-in begins at 1:30 p.m. RSVP to Haihong Liao by Wednesday, October 17, at  reservations@trivalleywriters.org. CWC adult members, $14; nonmembers, $18.
