Chris Hennessy will present “How to Build Your Writer’s Platform Using Storytelling Crossover Tips” at the Tri-Valley Writers October 21 meeting . Chris has been a full-time independent filmmaker, author, and speaker in Northern California since 1990. He serves on the board of directors at California Writers Club Sacramento Branch. Chris wrote, produced, and directed four national award-winning films in 2022. Since 2019, his cable TV show, Yolo YoYo’s, has been featured on four broadcasts of CBS’s GoodDay Sacramento, and he’s had six articles published in local Northern California newspapers. Yolo YoYo’s was awarded Best New TV Series 2019, Sacramento, CA. The twelve episodes reached 125,000 fans on Facebook.
Chris’s memoir, Touched by Hannah: A man with cancer, his 1 lb. newborn—Hannah, and their fight for life, will be completed by April 2024. The story has been featured on NBC TV, KGO-810 San Francisco, podcasts as a part of Chris’s professional speaking engagements, and has reached thousands on social media. After completing Touched by Hannah, Chris hopes to write the screenplay, then produce the movie for Netflix or the big screen.
Yolo YoYo’s episode, “Miracles on College St., Daddy & Daughter Tread on Deathbeds” (February 2021), a thirteen-minute documentary produced as a trailer film for Touched by Hannah, was runner-up, best program, at the 2022 ACM West Coast Region, WAVE Cable TV Awards banquet. “Miracles also received a Film Heals most inspirational award at the 2022 Manhattan Film Festival, New York City, and was a top-five documentary finalist.
Chris is currently battling prostate cancer spread to his lungs and spine. He says, “Instead of letting myself be surrounded in fear, worrying, God is pushing me to achieve my potential, and I’m having a blast.” See henchris.com for more information.
