Eve Sprunt

After earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Eve Sprunt was the first woman to earn a doctorate in geophysics from Stanford University. Nine months after she defended her thesis, she gave birth to her first child, Alexander.

She was working for Mobile Oil when her daughter Elsa was born. Eve spent thirty-five years in the petroleum industry, twenty-one of them at Mobile Oil and fourteen at Chevron. She was the 2006 President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and has received numerous industry awards, including the highest one given by the Society of Women Engineers, the SWE Achievement Award.  She founded the Society of Core Analysts in 1985 and was the 2006 President of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and 2018 President of the American Geosciences Institute.

Eve holds twenty-three patents and has authored dozens of scholarly papers and other articles, as well as several books (see below).

Eve and her husband of forty-six years, Hugh Sprunt, live in Dublin, California.
